The choice of symbol recalls the historic strip of red surrounding the first page of the newspaper L'Unità , severely attacked by the President of the Council, after having lashed out at Republic, El Pais and the Nouvelle Observateur , now referring to legal proceedings and requires two million euro in damages for libel at the head founded by Antonio Gramsci, a figure that would lead to the closure of the newspaper.
The action of the head of the government, seeking to intimidate the information bodies, forced to argue that press freedom is an enhancement of democracy, but its substance and that it represents a fundamental value is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Italian European Charter for the freedom of the press.
